For deeply infected teeth or abscessed teeth, the best treatment is often a root canal procedure. A straightforward root canal procedure cleans out the infected root of the tooth before sealing it off again and reinforcing the remainder of the natural tooth. A root canal typically takes one appointment.

What Happens After a Root Canal?

The root canal procedure requires removing part of the natural tooth to enter and clean the canal. After the treatment, the remaining tooth requires reinforcement, usually in the form of a dental crown. Your dentist will always discuss your options before treatment.
